Sound familiar?

Collections and models scattered with no structure

You have dozens of collections and multiple AI models, but no way to group them by research project.

Sharing results means sending links back and forth

You want colleagues to see your transcription work, but there is no simple way to share a whole project.

No way for your team to work on the same documents together

You need transcribers, reviewers, and editors working in parallel — but everyone is on their own.

Everything your research needs — in one workspace

Projects solve these problems by giving your transcription work structure, collaboration, and visibility.

One place for collections, models & sites

Group all your transcription resources into a single workspace. No more searching across your account.

Frequently asked questions about Transkribus Projects

Everything you need to know about creating and managing collaborative transcription workspaces.

A Transkribus Project is a collaborative workspace that groups your collections, AI models, datasets, and published sites together. Think of it as a folder for an entire research initiative — with built-in team management and visibility controls.
Log in to Transkribus, go to the Projects section, and click "Create Project". Give it a name, choose a visibility level (private, organisation, or public), and you're ready to add resources and invite team members.
There is no limit. Projects support teams of any size — from a two-person research duo to a 100+ volunteer crowdsourcing campaign. Each member is assigned one of four roles: Owner, Editor, Transcriber, or Reader.
Yes. You can set your project to Public to make it discoverable by the entire Transkribus community. Public projects go through an admin review before being published. You can also choose between auto-join (anyone can join instantly) or join requests (you approve each member).
Projects are included with your Transkribus account at no additional cost. You can create and manage projects on any plan.
You can add collections (document sets), AI models (for handwriting recognition), datasets (training data), and published Transkribus Sites. All linked resources appear on your project's profile page.
Open your project, click "Add Member", and enter their email address. Choose a role (Owner, Editor, Transcriber, or Reader) and send the invite. They'll receive an email with a link to join your project.
