Understanding Transkribus credits

Everything you need to know about the tokens that power your recognition tasks in Transkribus.
Transkribus credits are like digital tokens used to run various recognition jobs within Transkribus. Whether you need to recognise handwritten text or analyse tables, these credits make it possible. Here is an overview of how they work.

How credits are consumed

To process a document in Transkribus, you need credits. The number of credits required depends on how many pages you want to process, and how you want to process them, as set out in the chart below.

Please note that when using table or field recognition, both line recognition and text recognition are then required in order to get a complete transcription. Therefore, your credit usage estimate should include the costs for all three recognition types.

For those on an organisational plan using the Metagrapho API, a 50% reduction on credit consumption per page is automatically applied. You can find out more about Transkribus credits in our Help Center.
